What a resource!

From time to time we come across a resource that is like the Superman of all resources! It is a one stop shop for teachers for every subject that is universal in the point that the type of technology you are using will not limit it’s abilities.  No matter what you teach, what level or the types of students, you will find what you need here. Best of all, it is great for independent work, small groups, or a whole group on an interactive white board.

On this site you will find a link for: Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Arts, Music, Holidays, Spanish, Brain Teasers and Teacher Tools. Once you click on the link it will bring a list of sites that fall under each category, which are presented with screen shots. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress so some disciplines have more links than others.

So that got me thinking, how can you use all of these wonderful resources seamlessly? There is one way of opening the window and minimizing it so i’ts waiting for you in the task bar. Yes this works, buy may take some of the lesson’s momentum away from the lesson.

In SMART Notebook 11, there is a new feature where you can add a browser to the page. By clicking on the browser icon in the tool bar,

a browser will appear on the Notebook page. You can set it to go directly to the site you would like to use in the lesson. Plus, you can also drag out any images or text from the site to the page. The item that you drag out is now an object! This all sounds great, but how do you do it? You can follow the directions as posted by Danesa Menge, a SMART Exemplary Educator (SEE) in California in the EdCompass blog.   If you would prefer to watch how to do it, check out this video: inserting a browser in Notebook 11.
