Make the Skill Come Alive

The students have mastered the skill on paper. They can answer any question you give them and the test prep queries you are using also demonstrate mastery. But what happens when the skill is transferred to a real life event? Are your students able to assess an image and apply the skill? Can they locate those items studied in an actual image? Snag.gy allows a student to demonstrate their learning.

Using Snag.gy you have the ability to paste any image from the web into this site. The image can be cropped, items can be outlined, shapes can be added and text is available to label the screen shot. Be sure to give credit to your picture if copied from the internet. Once the image is complete, a specific URL will be available to return to the image or it can be copied and inserted into a blank document.

One final bonus using Snag.gy, a lesson like this will also include searching for an appropriate image and well as copy right privileges.

How can you use this with your students:

  • project an image on the interactive white board and label items
  • locate examples of a vocabulary terminology and use the text tool to explain why the image fits the word
  • in a 1:1 environment have each student locate an image that fits the criteria of the assignment and label it
  • find an image that depicts part of a war-use the text or drawing tools to explain how the troop will attack
